THE NORTHERN NJ COMMUNITY FOUNDATION’S ARTSBERGEN ANNOUNCES A CALL FOR ARTISTS

Seeking Performers, Performance Artists, Musicians and More for the Sack Business Alliance Summer Busking (Street Performance) Program

Submission Deadline: Friday, July 8, 2022

Apply for the Sack Business Alliance’s Summer Busking Program! Local performers, performance artists, musicians, comedians, dancers, jugglers, unique acts, etc. are invited to perform outdoors on Fridays during a predetermined time slot at designated locations on Main Street.

The program will provide local talent with paid work opportunities to engage the community and enliven downtown Hackensack with live music and artistic performances during peak business hours.

PROGRAM GOALS

• Draw visitor and resident traffic to the downtown through the presentation of local arts.
• Offer opportunities to support the local arts community and showcase the wide talent present in the City and County.
• Strengthen the cultural identity and vibrancy of the downtown through unique arts programming.
• Encourage community engagement and exposure to arts and culture.
• Reinforce the commitment of the Sack Business Alliance and the City of Hackensack to public art and the value the arts bring to the redevelopment.
• Continue supporting public arts to transform the City into an arts/cultural destination.

PERFORMER ELIGIBILITY

Eligible performers must be at least 18 years of age and live or work in Bergen County, NJ. Hackensack-based artists encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION

Artist/Performer Fees (2-hour time blocks):
1 Artist: $100 Total ($50.00/hr | $100.00/pp)
2 Member Group: $125 Total ($62.50/hr | $62.50/pp)
3 Member Group: $150 Total ($75.00/hr | $50.00/pp)
4 or More Member Group: $200 Total ($100.00/hr | $50.00</pp)
* Performers may use some form of container (box, hat, musical instrument case) to accept donations from the general public in return for their performance.

• Original creative work encouraged.
• No vulgarity, lewdness, nudity, advertising, political statements, profanity, or violence.
• Use of small battery-operated speaker/amp is allowed.
• Merchandise may be offered for sale.

HOW TO APPLY

NNJCF’s ArtsBergen is collecting submissions of interested applicants. Eligible performers must be at least 18 years of age and live or work in Bergen County, NJ. Hackensack-based artists encouraged to apply. Performers will be selected based on artistic excellence, creativity, and interesting content.

Applicants should register at https://hackensacksummerbusking.artcall.org, complete a short application, and upload a one-minute Demonstration Video. Submissions are due by Friday, July 8, 2022. Performers will be notified by July 20, 2022 if they are selected.

STEP 1: Go to https://hackensacksummerbusking.artcall.org. Click on the Register & Apply button and complete the Application Form.

STEP 2: Upload:

1. One short Demonstration Video introducing yourself or group. Show us what you do! (Maximum 25 mb in file size. Mp4, mov, avi files are supported).
2. Bio/Resume
